Strategic Development
Collaborating in the maritime sector
Within our Strategic Development Council (SDC), sector-wide collaboration and knowledge sharing on strategic foresight and long-term development take centre stage. We help the maritime sector look beyond today's challenges by translating trends, uncertainties, and emerging developments into future scenarios, enabling organisations to make better-informed decisions for tomorrow.
The Strategic Development Council brings together experts from across the maritime sector to jointly explore the future. Through strategic foresight and scenario analysis, we examine how economic, ecological, geopolitical, demographic, socio-cultural, technological and political-institutional developments may impact the Dutch maritime sector over the next 10 to 20 years.
In a world characterised by growing uncertainty and rapid change, the ability to think strategically about the future has become increasingly important. The SDC provides a platform where companies, industry associations, knowledge institutions, and government partners explore opportunities, risks, and long-term strategic challenges together. The scenarios developed help organisations test the robustness of strategic decisions, identify emerging opportunities, and anticipate potential threats at an early stage. In doing so, we create the space to look beyond the pressures of day-to-day operations and contribute to a future-proof maritime sector.
