Inclusive sector
To effectively tackle the shortage in the maritime labor market, it is important to retain new target groups and current employees in the sector for the long term.
This is only possible if the sector becomes more inclusive so that everyone who wants to is welcome and feels welcome. To achieve this goal, creating awareness about inclusivity and insight into the perspective for action is important. Ultimately, tools will be developed for this purpose for the benefit of the industries and companies.
The first step in achieving a more inclusive sector is to gain insight into how inclusive the sector currently is. For this we work together with Dr. Sofya Isaakyan, Associate Professor in Organizational Behavior at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). Dr. Isaakyan is conducting research within the maritime sector with the following objectives;
- Identify key factors in leadership, employee inclusion and psychological safety that need to be further improved;
- Provide insights and recommendations to leaders and employees of organizations based on data from the research;
- Provide insights and recommendations to HR teams on how to strengthen their current and future training programs.
When the research is completed and the results, insights and recommendations are clear, NML will make the results available to all organizations in the maritime sector to be inspired by the results of the research.
